The exercises in this study just involve the reading of rhythm without pitch. Whilst it’s essentially a book for drummers, players on all instruments can have the benefit of its use. For many who don’t seem to be drummers, simply clap the rhythms or tap them on a table. Melodies is also improvised based upon the rhythmic patterns in each and every exercise. The a part of the title which includes the words And Beyond refers back to the final few sections dealing with syncopated accents, sticking patterns that produce syncopated sounds, and rolls on syncopated rhythms.
